A new study reveals valuable insights into the profile of startup founders in Brazil, highlighting issues of gender, racial identity, geographic location, education, and AI usage. The “Entrepreneurial Map: Who Are the Startup Founders in Brazil?” study was developed by Startup Copilot, the innovation arm of Sling Hub, a LatAm innovation data platform, in partnership with market leaders. | ||
The study provides a comprehensive overview of startup founders in Brazil, emphasizing the importance of diversity, educational qualification, and technological innovation for the development of the entrepreneurial ecosystem. | ||
👩🧔♂️Gender and Age Range | ||
Leadership in Brazilian startups is still predominantly male, with men occupying 76% of leadership positions, while women represent 23%. The most representative age group is 35-39 years (23%), followed by 30-34 years (19%). Only 5% of founders are over 60 years old. Among women, 67% are under 49 years old, with 11% being 50 years or older. For men, 75% are under 49 years old and 25% are 50 years or older. | ||
🏳️🌈 Racial Identity, PCD and LGBTQIAPN+ | ||
Among respondents, 73% identify as white, 18% as mixed race, 5% as black, and 3% as Asian. No professionals identified as indigenous. 3% of respondents are PWD (People with Disabilities), while 9% identified as part of the LGBTQIAPN+ community. | ||
